As an only child, I have faced the difficult challenge of navigating the profound loss of my grandmother and father while simultaneously organizing their funeral services, a task that felt both overwhelming and painfully personal.
In 2022, I found myself once again confronted with the daunting task of having to make cremation arrangements for my mother over the phone as she passed in Florida. Then after traveling to handle her affairs, I was faced with the task of planning her memorial service, which was both a sorrowful and significant undertaking. In reaching out to various funeral homes, I was disheartened to discover the steep costs associated with even the most basic memorial programs, leaving me feeling frustrated and helpless in an already challenging time.
Motivated by my passion for graphic design and the deep desire to honor my mother's memory in a distinctive and heartfelt manner, and with my husband's unwavering encouragement and support, I decided to take matter in my own hands. I designed a memorial announcement and program that truly celebrated her life, incorporating treasured photos and cherished memories that encapsulated her vibrant spirit and the love she shared with everyone around her. I also designed a memorial website so that her friends across the country could share memories of her and participate in the streamed memorial service.
This profound experience not only strengthened my resolve but also fueled my commitment to assist others in commemorating their loved ones with the same level of care and personalization that I sought for my mother. I became determined to assist others with honoring their loved ones in a way that is both meaningful and memorable.
